Although it conveys the aspect of being a completely wood building, in reality the gymnasium possesses a heterogeneous structure, composed also of steel and concrete. A large metallic lattice girder crosses the 48m length of the room; traversing the structure, it replaces the use of poles at level with the bleachers and wind-braces the building.
The large north facade of the sports complex is a curtain wall of doubling glazing and aluminum joinery, with breaks for thermal bridges, behind which rests the wooden structure. We were led to envision, for this optimal northern aspect of the building, a large glass wall, with openings in the upper part that permit a sweep of natural ventilation through glass northlight roofing.
